Obituary - Mercer County Chronicle
Ernestine Eleanor Staugler, beloved daughter of Charles J. and
Catherine Herman Staugler, passed away at the home of her parents on
South Second Street
at 11:15 o'clock Saturday morning, August 6,
after an illness of three months of Bright's disease, being confined
to her bed for three weeks with her last
illness.
Ernestine was born in Coldwater October 1, 1917, and at passing had
reached the age of 14 years, 10 months and 5 days, and had spent her
entire
life in Coldwater. She passed away well fortified with the
last sacrament of the Catholic Church, of which she had been a
faithful and lifelong member.
The deceased was a graduate of
Holy Trinity school and had passed the freshman year in the Coldwater
High School and had she lived would have entered the
sophomore
class in September. She was greatly liked by her teachers and
classmates and was a very promising young girl until she was stricken
with the
disease that caused her death. She was a kind and dutiful
daughter and sister and was greatly respected by all who knew her, and
they mourn with the family
in her passing and extend their deep
sympathy to the family in their hour of great sorrow.
The
deceased was a devout member of Holy Trinity Church, an active and
beloved member of the Children of Mary and Ladies Auxiliary of that
parish.
One brother, Herbert, and two sisters, Helen and
Lillian, preceded her in death.
Surviving to mourn her passing
are her parents, her grandfather, John Staugler , six brothers and
four sisters, namely, Henry Paul, William,
Charles, Robert, Irene,
Joan, Ralph, Germaine, Kathleen and Clarence.
Funeral services
were held at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning at Holy Trinity church with
Rev. Louis H. Yauss officiating at Requiem High Mass. Members of the
Ladies'
Auxiliary served as pall bearers.
The funeral was
largely attended. Burial was at the St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
