From the Ft. Recovery Journal, 8 Jan 1932, Page 1:
Mrs. Lucilla Schneider nee Koch, daughter of Wm. Koch and his wife Dorthea nee Backhaus was born in St. Mary's, Ohio, Sept. 5th 1858 and departed this life at her home in Ft. Recovery, O., January 2nd, 1932 at 2:15 p.m. aged 73 years, 3 months and 27 days.
Mrs. Schneider came to Fort Recovery with her parents when she was but six years old and has made her home here ever since. In early infancy she was consecrated to her Lord in Holy Baptism and at the usual age was received into communicant membership in the Evangelical Lutheran Church having been confirmed in the Lutheran church at New Bremen, O. Her membership was later transferred to Trinity Lutheran church, Ft. Recovery, of which church she has been an acive, faithful and consistent member. In the past seven weeks of her suffering she was strengthened and comforted by the Word and Sacraments and departed this life in the full assurance of faith.
In the year 1881 she found a bosom companion and helpmate in the person of Carl Schneider to whom she was united in the bonds of Holy Wedlock by Pastor Franke. This union was a long and happy one and was blessed with five children, three sons, William, Ferdinand and Edward and two daughters, Dora and Eva. Together with her husband they were engaged in business in Ft. Recovery having owned and managed the Wayne Hotel for eighteen years during which time they made a host of friends. This union was severed by the death of Mr. Schneider on Nov. 9th, 1917. Since that time she has lived with her children in the old Koch home, a quiet and retired life.
For the past two years she has been in ill health and at times her life was despaired of. However she kept going until about seven weeks ago when she had to take her bed. During her last illness she was tenderly cared for by her children who sought to ease her pain by making her last hours as peaceful and comfortable as possible.
The Lord called her to her eternal rest Saturday afternoon at 2:15. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, three sisters, Julia, Henrietta and Minnie (Mrs. Wm. Heiby) her husband and one brother William. She is survived by two brothers Edward Koch of Ft. Recovery, Frank Koch of Saginaw, Mich., two sisters, Flora Koch and Mrs. Henry Leonhard of near Portland. Her five children William, of Dayton, O., Fred and Edward of Kankakee, Ill., Mrs. M.J. Langloh and Miss Eva of Fort Recovery, O., also two grandchildren besides a host of other relatives and friends, all of whom mourn her departure.
