HERBERT L. SCHAADT
Herbert L Schaadt, 81,
Berne, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in his home of an apparent heart
attack.
A well-known Jefferson Township farmer, he was born in Mercer County, Ohio to Lewis E. and Laura (Kessler) Schaadt on July 27, 1910. He married Eda Linn on May 2, 1936; she survives.
Mr. Schaadt was a member of the Berne Lions Club, and active member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, a former member of the Adams County Farm Bureau, and was an official with the Berne Swiss Days Horse Pull.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dewey (Sharon) Cowen, Galveston, Indiana; two sisters, Mrs. Res (Mary Catherine) Bollenbacher, Rockford, Ohio, and Mrs. Earl (Wilma) Gehm, Celina, Ohio; a brother Frederick “Fritz” Schaadt, rural Berne; and two grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Harold (Luetta) Frahm, is deceased.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s United
Church of Christ, Rockford, Jeffery Hammonds officiating. Burial will
follow in the church cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday, 2-9 p.m. at
Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday.
Memorials are to the church or the Berne Lions Club.
