John Ervin Wood, 95, Shane Hill Nursing Home, Rockford, died there at 8:43 p.m. Thursday. March 2, 1997.

 

He was born Aug. 29 1901, to Charles M. and Maggie (Snyder) Wood. On June 17, 1923, he married Pearl C. Bollenbacher, who died Dec. 22, 1982.

 

Survivors are a son, Duane R., Celina; a daughter and her husband, Georgia and Donald Cochren, Fort Wayne, a brother, Carl, Defiance; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grand-children.

 

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

 

He was retired from the Kleinhenz Stock Yard, Chattanooga. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Rockford, and Shanes Lodge No. 377 Free & Accepted Masons.

 

Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford. Burial was at the church cemetery.
