Lewis P. Wendel, 78, of Chattanooga, died at 1:
30, p.m. Tuesday in Otis Hospital in Celina where he, had been a
patient one week. He had been ill five years.
Born January 27,
1891 in Adams County,
Ind. , he was the son of Philip and Marguerite (Emrick) Wendel.
On May 6, 1916, he was married to the former
Jessie Butcher who survives.
Also
surviving are three daughters, Mrs.
Lester (Marguerite') Miller of Arlington, Va., Mrs. Robert (Genevieve)
Cecka of Ft. Wayne, and Mrs. Herbert (Pauline) Brudi of New Haven.
Ind.; two sons, James of R.1, Rockford and
Robert of Chattanooga; a half-brother,
Leslie of Bryant, Ind.;
10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church at
Chattanooga; where he had lived 48 years.
Mr. Wendel owned and operated the Wendel Motor
Sales until his retirement In 1958 when the business was taken over by
his sons.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in
the United Methodist Church, Rev.
Edwin Beach of Ayresville officiating.
Burial was in Rt. Paul's United Church of Christ
Cemetery.
