Bernard W. Stewart, 81, of Rockford, died at 9 a.m. Friday in his home. He was born Feb. 22, 1896, in Mercer County, a son of Sherman and Rhoda (Hinkle) Stewart.

Survivors include his widow, the former Mary Frysinger, whom he married Jan. 6, 1917; a son, Edwin (Chick) of Rockford; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Stewart was a retired manager of the Rockford Elevator. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Rockford.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, with the Rev. Larry Hopkins officiating. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery.

Stewart Rites Set Monday

Bernard W. Stewart. 81, 307 Front St., Rockford, died at 9 а.m. today at his home.

Born Feb. 22,1896, Mr.Stewart was the son of Sherman , and Rhoda (Hinkle) Stewart. He married Mary Frysinger Jan. б, 1917, and she survives.

Also surviving are a son, Edwin (Chick) Stewart, Rockford: five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Stewart was a retired elevator manager and a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Rockford.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
