In memoriam of Eulah Fern (Gause) Shank, 08/13/1922 - 10/03/2017
Eulah Fern (Gause) Shank, 95, of Hoagland, Indiana passed away
Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at her residence.
She was born on
Sunday, August 13, 1922 in Mercer County, Ohio the daughter of the
late James E. Gause and the late Anna R. (Slusser) Gause. She married
Manford M. Shank on June 27, 1948 in Mercer County, Ohio and he
preceded her in death on April 24, 2014.
Eulah was a full-time
homemaker, but was also employed outside the home as the need arose,
eventually retiring after 13 years from General Electric in Fort
Wayne.
She placed her faith in Christ at an early age and
shared that faith through her teaching of children at church all
throughout her life. She was a 1941 graduate of Willshire High School.
Survivors include her son, Thomas L. (Joyce) Shank of Overland
Park, KS; daughter, Linda M. (William) Swygart of Hoagland; daughter,
Alice R. Shank of Moorefield, WV; seven grandchildren, Matthew Shank;
Timothy Shank; Laura Rose Swygart; William Jack (Jen) Swygart; Ben
(Adrienne) Swygart; David (Sarah) Swygart; & Chris (Brittany) Swygart;
and six great-grandchildren, Blake Swygart; Kolton Swygart; Braiden
Swygart; Lane Swygart; Azalea Swygart; & Hazel Swygart.
Eulah
was the last surviving member of her family, encompassing six sisters
and five brothers and three half-brothers and one half-sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017
at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Rev. Steve Harrigan
officiating. Interment will follow in the East Bethel United Brethren
Cemetery in Mercer County, Ohio.
Friends will be received from
5 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 6 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur
and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Heartland Hospice or the donor's
choice.
