Robert J. (Bob) Schumm, 69, of Rockford, passed away at his
residence on February 15, 2019.
He was born in Decatur,
Indiana, on March 4, 1949, son of the late Elbert R. and Elva (Martin)
Schumm.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Rockford and a 1967
graduate of Parkway High School. In 1968, he married Barbara Huffman,
who survives.
He is also survived by two brothers Elbert R.
(Karen) Schumm of Seven Mile, Herb (Paula) Schumm of Loveland and a
sister, Jane (Gary) Fisher of Rockford; four children: Eric (Mary
Lynn) of Findlay; Joel of Indianapolis; Jon (Nicole) of Celina; and
Deborah (Jason) Rollins of Rockford; and ten grandchildren: Rachael,
Anna, Zachary, Isaac, Cora, and Eli Schumm; Seth, Caleb, Faith, and
Trent Rollins.
Bob was employed in the lumber and construction
business his entire life, beginning with his grandfather and father
and continuing at Rockford Lumber and Bruns Building/Rockford
Construction Services. Bob volunteered on the Rockford Emergency
Medical Services (EMS) from 1979-2012. He served on several community
boards and was recognized as Rockford Citizen of the Year in 1988. He
was a member of New Horizons Community Church, Rockford, and involved
in many of its ministries.
Bob's body was donated to the
Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University.
A
Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30p.m. on Saturday, April 20,
2019 at the New Horizons Community Church, 833 S. Main St. Rockford,
Ohio 45882, with Rev. Kenneth Meyer officiating.
A Memorial
Gathering will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at
the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Camp Cotubic (c/o Schumm Building Project), 2158 County Road 25 N., Bellefontaine, OH 43311, where Bob frequently volunteered on construction projects. Condolences may be shared on-line at LehmanDzendzelFH.com.
