Edward Alan McCullough, 90, of Decatur, Indiana passed away late
Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Adams Heritage in Monroeville, Indiana.
Ed was born on November 4, 1931 in Decatur, Indiana to Ben and V.
Loretta (Tinkham) McCullough. He was united in marriage to Phyllis M.
Barr on November 9, 1952 at Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur and she
preceded him in death on April 7, 2007.
Ed served his country
in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Schumm; American Legion Post
#43 of Decatur and Korean Veterans War Association in Fort Wayne.
He retired in 1989 from International Harvester (Navistar) after
30 years.
Ed was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting, fishing,
trapping, and pitching horseshoes. He loved spending time with his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ed also enjoyed spending time
with his breakfast buddies at Becky’s Restaurant in Willshire and West
End Restaurant in Decatur. In his younger years, spending time with
his dad and kids cutting wood for their wood stoves was also something
he enjoyed. Ed & Phyllis provided for their family and spent time with
them by gardening and canning.
He is survived by two sons,
James B. (Pamela S.) McCullough and Kenneth P. McCullough both of
Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Tonya A. (Diana Likens) McCullough of
Pierceton, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jason B. (Rachel L.)
McCullough, Thomas J. (Melissa D.) McCullough, Trevor J. (Emily
Hampton) McCullough, and Lexie J. Logan-McCullough; two
step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four
step-great-grandchildren; and four step great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Jon W. McCullough in
infancy, Dennis A. McCullough & Timothy E. McCullough; two
grandchildren, Jebadiah & Ashley McCullough; two great-grandchildren,
Alexander and Dexter McCullough; a brother, Charles N. McCullough; and
a sister, Dora Mae Tieman.
A funeral service will be held at
10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church, Schumm
with Pastor Hayden Folks and Pastor Robert Becker officiating. Burial
will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Schumm with Military Graveside
Honors to be conducted by the American Legion Post #43 of Decatur.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one
hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Preferred
memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church, Schumm or Adams Heritage in
Monroeville.
