DEATH OF MRS. PETER CROSS

After a decline in health for some time, Mrs. Peter Cross passed away Friday morning at the family home on S. Main Street. For many years she had made her home in this community. surviving are the husband, Peter Cross and one daughter, Mrs. Luie Roebuck. The funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon by Rev. V. H. Allman.

Cornelia Emrine Cross, daughter of Frederick and Mariah Emrine, was born Feb. 8, 1853, and departed this life from the home in Rockford, Ohio. December 18, 1931, having attained the age of 78 years, 10 months and 10 days.

She was united in marriage to Peter Cross on Feb. 1st. 1872. To this union five children were born; Mary M. Luie N. Anis, Dewey Otis and Mandie Lee.

Four of the five preceded their mother to the spirit world. Mrs. Anis Van Tilburg dying May 18, 1909; Mrs. Maude Purdy April 26, 1922; Mrs. Mary M. Counterman Jan. 17, 1910 and Dewey Orus Cross Oct. 18, 1928.

Mrs. Cross was converted to the Christian Faith in the Bethel U. B. Church under the ministry of Rev. Thomas Coats. Truly she gave her heart to the Lord and her hand to the church; for loyalty and faithful service crowned her membership of many years with this church.

Some years after the residence was moved to Rockford, she placed her membership with the First U. B. Church of which church she was an honored and faithful member until called from labor to reward. It seemed, she anxiously waited the heaven going, for the writer of this sketch has seen her shout glory, glory and clap her hands to exutlation at the prospect of death. He has heard her pray again and again that she might be taken home to be with her children. Her prayer has been answered and her joy is complete. I pray God that when each person present comes to that hour we may have as bright a prospect and await, as she, the change with joyful anticipation.

Those left to mourn are: the husband Peter Cross; one daughter, Mrs. Luie Roebuck of Rockford, Ohio; one brother and one sister, Benjamin Emrine and Mrs. Catherine Stetler of Decatur, Ind. There are also eleven grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, together with a number of distant relatives and a host of friends.
