Laura B. Callen Dies Early This Morning at Hospital
Funeral Rites Are Arranged For Monday at Pulskamp's Home

Mrs. Laura B Callen passed away early this morning at Gibbons Hospital after a brief illness due to complications of diseases. She was in the hospital a week.

Mrs. Callen, who was one of Celina’s pioneer residents, was born here 88 years ago last October. She spent the greater part of her life in Celina, with the exception of the years spent in Columbus, when her husband the late P.J. Callen was postmaster in the State Senate and a guard at the Ohio penitentiary.

Mrs. Callen was a school teacher for many years in the Celina and Mercer County schools and it was her delight in her later years to meet her former pupils. She had a wonderful memory and because she lived alone she enjoyed having old friends call and spend an afternoon reminiscing. Laura B. Larmer was united in marriage with Mr. Callen at Columbus March 27, 1876. He preceded her in death in April 1927.

One niece, Mrs. F.E. Maynard of Columbus, is the only immediate relative surviving.

Mrs. Callen was a life long member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church and a member of the local Women’s Relief Corps and a staunch Democrat.

The body was removed to Pulskamp’s for burial and will lie in state at Pulskamp’s Home For Funerals at 230 East Fayette street.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at the Funeral Home by Revs L.D. Vesey and H.J. Jewett.

Burial will take place in North Grove Cemetery by the side of her husband.”
