In Memorium.

George Riley Bourell was born in Northumberland county, Pennsylvania, February 13, 1832, and died at his home south of Wabash, December 26, 1905, aged 73 years, 10 months and 13 days. At an early age he moved to Hamilton, O. June 22, 1853 he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Bohenmoyer. Twelve children were born, nine of whom still live, Jennetta, Lydia, Elizabeth, Rena, Hattie, George, Henry and Elsworth, also twenty-six grandchildren and four great grandchildren are left to mourn his death.

For over half a century Mr. and Mrs. Bourell lived happily together meeting the trials of life with true christian spirit. "Uncle George," as he was affectionately called by his large circle of friends, served with distinction and credit during the civil war. He enlisted at Hamilton, Ohio, in Company I 35th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry on September 7, 1861, and followed the fortunes of that famous regiment through many a hard fought battle. He was appointed sergeant on November 6, 1862, for meritorous service and was honorably discharged September 8, 1864, at Chattanooga, Tenn. After the close of the war, with his family, he removed to Mercer county and settled upon a farm south of Wabash, where he resided at the time of his death. Ten years ago he became a member of the Christian church at Wabash, and since that time has been a faithful follower of the lowly Nazarene. One sister, Mrs. Lucy Nowland, survives the deceased. A loving husband and father, a faithful comrade and friend has answered to the last great roll call. Funeral services were held at the Wabash Christian church last Friday. Rev. H. Lotts officiated. Burial was in State Line cemetery. May he rest in peace.
